ABOUT

Karen Corneille is a writer and director who was most recently Writer/ Co-Producer on the acclaimed Ava DuVernay drama QUEEN SUGAR. Other television writing credits include Netflix’ OUTER BANKS, OWN dramas GREENLEAF and DELILAH, and Amazon Prime’s THE BAXTERS. She has also worked in the scripted podcast space as a Senior Writer at Pocket FM, where she developed, launched and served as Showrunner for scripted audio drama series. Karen began her career working in commercial and music video production on sets for clients such as Rihanna, Mercedes-Benz and Bacardi. While working in music video, she wrote treatments including Sean Paul’s “Give It Up to Me” from the film Step Up, while also freelancing as a contributing writer for several New York-based music magazines. As a director, she has been awarded production grants to direct branded content for Chevrolet and Unilever, and was a finalist in the Mofilm Cannes commercial competition. In addition to writing and directing, Karen has worked as a consultant with Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program and AFI Docs Film Festival. She holds a B.A. in Communications from Hampton University and an M.F.A. in Film from University of Southern California.
